The 1833 Group was founded in 2018 by Nick Daggers and James “JR” Patton. Together, they bring a combined quarter-century of experience managing and overseeing political organizations, municipalities, and nonprofits.
Our founding partners grew up in the Chicagoland area and have been well-acquainted with its unique form of local politics since their teenage years. The firm’s name pays homage to the Windy City — Chicago’s nickname, which was inspired not by the prevailing winds off Lake Michigan but by the hot air bellowing from politicians. 1833 was the year that Chicago was first incorporated as a town — four years before it officially became a city.
